Dr. Myrtle Patricia Elliott Jones is Senior Pastor of the Word For Life Church Ministries in Temple Hills, Maryland, a thriving church with twenty ministries set to enhance and support spiritual maturity and family strengthening. She is a former Associate Minister of Forestville New Redeemer Baptist Church in Forestville, Maryland.  Dr. Jones is a former Ordained Deacon at the Ark of Safety Christian Church in Clinton, Maryland, and also a former instructor at Ark of Safety Christian Church Bible College and Calvary Christian College.  Dr. Jones is a former member of First Baptist Church of Highland Park in Landover, Maryland where she served as Minister of Music and a Discipleship Instructor.

 

Dr. Jones served as Chief Administrator for the Children of Promise Christian Academy, a Christian School Ministry of Forestville New Redeemer Baptist Church.  She is the Co-Founder (with her husband) and President/CEO of Maryland Prevention Institute, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, which has provided more than $100,000 in scholarships and services to youth since 2001.  She is former Town Administrator for the Incorporated Town of Capitol Heights, Maryland and she is retired from the Government of the District of Columbia after nearly thirty years, serving in various executive level positions, including a Mayoral Cabinet Member and other managerial positions.

 

Dr. Jones holds a Doctorate in Ministry and a Masters of Theology from Calvary Christian College in Waldorf, Maryland.  She performed Post Graduate Study at the University of the District of Columbia in public administration; is a graduate of Senior Executive Management Training at Harvard University; and she earned a Bachelor of Arts in history at Norfolk State University.  Dr. Jones is Founding Vice-President of the National Association of Black Public Administrators, Washington, D.C. Chapter.

 

Dr. Myrtle Patricia Jones is married to Rev. Dr. Freddie L. Jones.  They are parents of Yolanda Jones Gaston of Greenbelt, MD and Madison L. Jones of Atlanta, GA.  They are the proud grandparents of James (Yolanda's son), and Kennedy and Fallon (Madison's daughters).  Dr. Jones stands on the guiding Scripture "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me," Philippians 4:13.

Rev. Dr. Freddie L. Jones is Executive Pastor of Word For Life Church Ministries of Temple Hills, Maryland.  He was born in Martin County, North Carolina.  He attended public schools in Norfolk, Virginia and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School.   After entering Norfolk State University (NSU), he joined the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), where he served as the first commanding officer of the newly chartered Pershing Rifles National Honorary Society, Company C-15.  He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the US Army's Military Police Corp.

Dr. Jones' triumphant victory over the attacks of Satan in his life is evident in his anointed and powerful messages.  He was ordained Elder in 2000 and served as head of Congregational Care Ministry, and Director/Chairman of the Ark of Safety Christian Academy Committee.  He instructed at the Ark of Safety Christian Bible College providing Deacon and Trustee training and mentoring, and served as Chairman of the Deacon Board Ministry.  He is a former Associate Minister at Forestville New Redeemer Baptist Church in Forestville, Maryland, where he was overseer of Congregational Care Ministry and the Director of the Children of Promise Christian Academy.  

Dr. Jones was a member of the First Baptist Church of Highland Park in Landover, Maryland for twenty-eight. During his fellowship at First Baptist, he served as the chairman of the Board of Trustees for eight years.  As chairman, he successfully directed the churches resources in liquidating a twenty-five years mortgage in eight years and led the mortgage burning ceremony.  As Chairman Emeritus, he co-chaired the building of a three-story educational and office building.  He also co-chaired the establishment of First Community Credit Union (FDIC), the first minority credit union in Prince George's County, Maryland to become "FDIC Certified."

Dr. Jones is a retired Army Colonel (0-6) with over thirty-five (35) years of uniform service.  Immediately following Desert Storm Operations (91), he retired from active duty as the Director of Personnel for the District of Columbia Army National Guard, Washington, D.C. While on active duty, his other assignments included Deputy Brigade Commander and Chief-of-Staff for the 260th Military Police (MP) Brigade and as Commanding Officer for the 372nd MP Battalion.  After retiring from active duty he took a position with the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp (JROTC) in Prince George's County Public Schools.  There he served as a Senior Army Instructor at Fairmont Heights and later at Forestville High Schools, for a combined total of ten years.  During his tenure, he established a record-setting nine-consecutive annual ratings of "Honor Unit with Distinction," the highest award given to any JROTC unit.

Dr. Jones holds a Doctorate in Ministry and a Masters of Theology from Calvary Christian College, a Bachelors of Science in Criminology from the University of Maryland College Park, Maryland; he earned a Master's equivalent from the Central Kansas University in International Affairs, graduating from both the Command and General Staff College and National Security Staff College.

Drs. Freddie and Myrtle Patricia Jones have been married for forty years.  Their children are Yolanda Gaston of Greenbelt, MD, Madison Jones of Atlanta, GA, and Dr. Freddie has a son, Arrington Gavin of Chesapeake, Virginia. They have three grandchildren James, Kennedy, and Fallon.
